Advice on buying sheepskin boots.
There is a huge difference between high quality sheepskin boots and lower quality synthetic boots.
Just a few of the basic differences are:
A good grade sheepskin breathes naturally and actually wicks away the moisture allowing air to circulate freely in the boot, this effect keeps the feet dry and comfortable , whereas synthetic boots do not allow the air to circulate, feel coarse and feel scratchy on the feet.
This air circulation is very important to prevent smelly and sweaty feet from affecting the boot.
Sheepskin has a natural insular effect keeping your feet close to body temperature no matter the conditions outside (hot or cold).
Sometimes these synthetic boots can look very good but this doesn’t mean that they are going to wear well or have long-lasting comfort.
Ask your reseller whether the boots have been made from genuine double faced Marino or whether they are two skins glued together.
Some are even made of cowhide on the outside (which doesn’t breathe well) with the lower grade sheepskin glued on the inside, the glue also acts as a sealer stopping the correct breathing of the boot.
The original Marino sheepskins are very thick which helps hold the shape of the boot, when the boot is made of lower grade skins or synthetics it would tend to sag and look unsightly and wear quickly after a short amount of time.
Sizing is very important as some manufacturers do not make the boots in line with standard issue sizes, before buying you should always check the sizing charts with your supplier.
So to summarise make sure you have selected Boots made of good raw materials and of good workmanship.
